1.   Implementation of New Credit Curriculum for 4-Year Degree Programs

Maharashtra is committed to implementing a new credit-based curriculum for undergraduate and postgraduate programs in line with NEP-2020. This curriculum reform aims to provide students with a holistic and interdisciplinary learning experience, fostering critical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving skills. The government has decided to implement a curricular framework for UG and PG programs across state universities and affiliated colleges. This framework aligns with NEP-2020 guidelines and will be effective from the academic year 2023-24, ensuring uniformity and quality in curriculum design and delivery.

2.   Implementation of Academic Bank of Credit (ABC)

Maharashtra emphasizes the implementation of the Academic Bank of Credit, a centralized repository for accumulating and transferring academic credits earned by students. Universities are responsible for ensuring the accumulation of credits on the ABC portal and the complete uploading of mark sheets and degree certificates on the National Academic Depository (NAD) portal. Students' registration on the ABC portal is also a priority.

3.   Active Industry and Institute Collaboration

Maharashtra recognizes the significance of industry partnerships in bridging the gap between academia and the professional world. Active collaboration through Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with industries and institutes is encouraged to foster meaningful partnerships. These collaborations provide valuable opportunities for students and faculty, facilitating research, internships, and practical exposure. Maharashtra emphasizes the importance of creating strong links between academic institutions and industries to ensure that students are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge required in the professional sphere.

4.   Accreditation of Affiliated Institutions

Maharashtra supports affiliated institutions in completing the accreditation process. The universities to provide the necessary support, guidance, and direction to ensure the accreditation of non-accredited colleges under their jurisdiction. Department actively encourage universities to monitor accreditation of affiliated HEIs. Accreditation enhances the quality of education and promotes continuous improvement in infrastructure, teaching methods, and research capabilities. Maharashtra recognizes the importance of maintaining high standards in higher education institutions and works towards ensuring that all affiliated institutions meet the necessary accreditation criteria.

5.   Integration of Indian Knowledge System Courses

Maharashtra mandates the integration of Indian Knowledge System courses into the curriculum, following the guidelines set by the Ministry of Education. By incorporating courses that promote Indian knowledge systems, culture, and heritage, students gain a comprehensive understanding of diverse perspectives and contribute to preserving and promoting Indian knowledge traditions. Under new credit curriculum IKS courses will be integrated into curriculum as part of NEP 2020 Implementation.

The state ensures the recognition and credit transfer of courses completed through these platforms, providing students with a broader range of learning opportunities and fostering lifelong learning. 7.   Providing Internship Opportunities

These result areas cover various aspects of education, including access to education, quality of education, digital infrastructure, faculty development, research output, student outcomes, and other relevant areas. Maharashtra focuses on achieving the targets set for each key result area and takes proactive measures to ensure the successful implementation of NEP 2020.
